House of Hades was founded by two sisters, Imogen and Freya McGuinness. They shared the belief that pets are significant beings in their own right, deserving of objects made with thought and care to reflect their place in our lives. The brand offers unexpected pieces in natural, plastic-free materials, rooted in traditional craft methods for a new standard of life with animals.
THE STORY
We founded House of Hades because growing up, animals were never peripheral, they were our family, companions and confidants. Revisiting the things we had kept of our childhood pets, their collars, blankets, or their favourite toys, they all seemed to be lacking something important. The ID tags held the family name and information, but beyond the crease where the buckle was set on their collars, none of it reflected who they were or honoured the value they held in our lives.
The idea was born after Imogen adopted her second rescue dog and commissioned Freya to hand-make them ID tag pendants, set with gemstones, to reflect their personalities. From the interest the pendants attracted on walks, we realised that other people shared our desire for something far more special for their pets.
We wanted to create a brand that would sit comfortably between canine jewellery and memorable keepsakes. We began deliberating over materials, choosing characterful metals with centuries of history over inert alloys, and natural fabrics over nylons that irritate animal’s skin.
More than a pet brand, House of Hades is a celebration of companionship and of the animals, places and experiences that leave their mark on us.
Pro amore ferarum,
Imogen & Freya
“We wanted to create pieces for pets that felt as meaningful as jewellery, chosen for their beauty and kept for the stories they carry.”
